David Maloney is claiming self-defense in the shooting that killed three people at a motorcycle charity event in Winter Springs in 2012.
Police said an altercation broke out before the ride and David Jakiela, Harold Liddle and Peter Schlette were killed.
Three other co-defendants, Victor Amaro, Robert Eckert and Paul Smith, will be tried separately.
