Former Rebels motorcycle gang boss denies rape charge

A former boss of the Rebels motorcycle gang in Hobart has denied raping a woman inside its clubrooms.

Benjamin Steven Craig, 31, was flanked by three tattooed men when he walked into the Magistrates Court in Hobart this morning.

He pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and one of indecent assault.

Craig was the president of the North Hobart chapter of the Rebels motorcycle gang last October when police allege he assaulted a 26-year-old woman inside the gang's clubhouse.

He was released on bail to appear in the Supreme Court in June when a date will be set for trial.

Craig is no longer the North Hobart chapter president.
