Third motorcycle club murder trial to begin

~Robert Eckert charged with three counts of murder~

SANFORD, Fla. —The murder trial for a third man accused in a deadly triple shooting involving two motorcycle clubs is expected to begin Monday morning.

Robert Eckert, 39, is charged with three counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder for the September 2012 shootout in the parking lot of the Winter Springs VFW. David Jakiela, Harold Liddle and Peter Schlette were killed in that shooting.

Last week, a judge declared a mistrial for co-defendent Victor Amaro. It's likely Amaro's trial will be reheard next month.

David Maloney was acquitted of two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder, but the jury could not decide on the second count of attempted murder, so the state must decide if it wants to retry that one count.
