POLICE are seeking to have the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang clubhouse at Leppington declared a restricted premises to stop known criminals visiting the address.

Investigators have also served a Supreme Court Summons to the Rebel’s national president Alex Vella, 60, under Section 3 of the Restricted Premises Act 1943.

Mr Vella, who is due to attend court on May 8, has not been charged in relation to any offence.

However, if the police successfully prove their restricted premises case, Mr Vella could risk up to six months imprisonment if he allows known criminals to visit the clubhouse.

During last Tuesday’s raid, police allegedly seized prohibited drugs, weapons and 220 bottles of alcohol during a search of 69 people, 28 cars and three motorcycles at the Bringelly Rd clubhouse last week by Strike Force Raptor.

Police also allege they found 30 steroid tablets on a 27-year-old senior member of the Rebels Liverpool Chapter, and 15 grams of cannabis on a 30-year-old Rebels associate. Both men will be charged with drug-related offences.

A 46-year-old senior member of the Rebels Ingleburn chapter was arrested after he allegedly assaulted some of the officers involved in the search.

He was taken to Liverpool police station where he was charged with two counts of assault police and one count of resisting arrest.

Investigators from Strike Force Raptor also served a Liverpool Chapter senior member with a court attendance notice for outstanding traffic matters, and a 40-year-old senior member of the Rebels Blacktown Chapter with a court attendance notice for possession of prohibited weapons, relating to 45 knuckle dusters allegedly found at a property on April 3.

Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009 to target outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
