Senior Rebels OMCG member charged with drug and weapons offences – Wagga Wagga

A Sergeant-at-Arms of the ‘Rebels’ outlaw motorcycle gang has been charged with drug and weapons offences at Wagga Wagga.

 

As part of Operation Swiftblade, a high-visibility policing strategy targeting activities of outlaw motorcycle gangs in Southern Region, officers from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command commenced an investigation into drug supply in the local area.

 

Just after midday today (Saturday 7 May 2016), local police, assisted by Strike Force Raptor, arrested a 48-year-old man outside a residence on Chifley Crescent, Kooringal.

 

Following a search of a home, in accordance with a Firearms Prohibition Order, officers located and seized a stun gun, and a knife.

 

In addition, officers seized a bag of white powder, which is believed to be amphetamine, for forensic analysis.

 

The man was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with ongoing drug supply, possess prohibited drug and two counts of possess prohibited weapon.

 

He has been refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 8 May 2016).

 

Inquiries are continuing.

 

Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
