Body discovered in Osgoode

Police continue to investigate

Manotick News

Ottawa police are investigating a scene on River Road in Osgoode where a body was found around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25.

Dozens of police officers, paramedics and members of the major crimes unit were on scene at 3634 River Rd., where a body was discovered in the river.

Police have confirmed that the body was discovered in the river, but not the cause of death or an identity.

Dive teams were on site and appeared to be preparing for a water investigation.

Neighbours who have lived across the street from the scene since the 1980s said the area is usually very quiet, and that the biker club who has rented the house for the last year or so is usually very peaceful. They said the club has gatherings with several motorcycles on weekends, but that they never hear any noise coming from the property.

Another area resident who stopped on the road said that several of the property’s neighbours were concerned when the club moved in, but that their fears have since been quelled as there have been no issues.

Several men, some sporting Outlaws T-shirts, were hanging around the scene for much of the investigation. According to the Outlaws Ottawa website, the motorcycle club is a “brotherhood, not a criminal organization.” They are “a group of men united to ride and have fun.” The Outlaws are one of the largest motorcycle clubs in the world, with chapters in Ottawa, Toronto, Sudbury and several other Canadian cities.
