Task Force Maxima arrest Finks OMCG member following carpark assault, Carrara

24-year-old Biggera Waters man and member of the Finks OMCG has been charged following the assault of a male driver in a market carpark in Carrara yesterday.

About 12pm yesterday a man drove into the carpark and cut off a female driver. The man waved an apology to the woman before she returned the wave and let the man proceed to his park.

Another man has then approached the vehicle, reached inside and has allegedly repeatedly punched the man in the face. A female sitting in the passenger’s seat also received a strike to the arm as she tried to intervene.

The offender has then walked to a motorcycle and ridden from the carpark.

Task Force Maxima detectives later arrested the man at a Biggera Waters address. He was charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault,  unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and possess category M weapon (flick knife).

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

“Members of the community have a right to go about their daily business without fearing for their own personal safety.

“Members of OMCGs believe that violence is the answer in most situations, this is not the case and it will not be tolerated.  Today’s arrest demonstrates how seriously Taskforce Maxima treats this type of behaviour,” Detective Inspector Phillip Stevens for Taskforce Maxima said
