As a result of a spate of bikie-related drive-by shootings in the Hunter region of New South Wales the state's police force have established a new strike force.
A large number of gunshots were fired into a house and car in Chisholm, near the town of Maitland about 1:00am on Thursday.
Detective Superintendent Wayne Humphries said there have been six public shooting incidents and two Molotov cocktail attacks in the region since January.
"All of these matters relate to the behaviours of outlaw motorcycle gangs within this area … the Nomads and the Finks," he said.
"It is clear there is some type of dispute between these two groups.
"We have been actively investigating and operating on both groups."
Strike Force Danay has now been established to specifically tackle the violence in the Hunter region, and will work in tandem with the Strike Force Raptor, which specialises in investigating NSW's outlaw motorcycle gangs.
On Wednesday, police announced Strike Force Raptor had dismantled the Nomad's clubhouse in the Upper Hunter town of Muswellbrook after a raid last week which found a fully-functioning bar, as well as clubs, believed to be used as weapons.
This operation follows the dismantling of the Nomads clubhouse at Islington, Newcastle, in early February.
Both clubhouses were shut down for the illicit sale of alcohol under the Restricted Premises Act.
Detective Superintendent Humphries said Strike Force Danay would add more resources to the fight against the violence.
He said the cause of the feud was still unclear and none of shooting victims were cooperating with police.
"We believe there is no danger to the community in terms of randomness of attacks," he said.
"This is a targeted attack between two groups who are undertaking this criminality.
"They have a misguided code of silence and we've got to try and break that down."
