Hells Angels senior member among four arrested in Bay and Basin raid

UPDATE:

Police have arrested four men, seized numerous firearms, drugs and cash in an operation centered on the Bay and Basin area, early Wednesday, June 10.

Around 6.30am detectives from the South Coast Police District along with officers from the State Crime Command and Strike Force Raptor executed firearm prohibited order search warrants at a number of Bay and Basin locations, particularly in Sanctuary Point.

The four men are all believed to be members of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang, including one who is a senior member.

Police seized a number of items during the searches including a semi-automatic hand gun, a number of home-made firearms, a substantial amount of ammunition, a quantity of drugs and cash.

South Coast Police District Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Scott Nelson said over the past couple of months detectives from the South Coast District have been investigating a number of serious criminal activities in the Bay and Basin area, including a number of assaults and affray matters.

"Police have identified a number of members of the group which belong to the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang and arrested four men following this morning's raids," he said.

Det Insp Nelson said two men were charged over an alleged affray and assault matter at the Huskisson Hotel in January this year; another man was charged with breaching an apprehended violence order; and the last men with firearm offences.

"We know these individuals are forming part of a group as the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang," he said.

"We want to make it clear this type of criminal activity won't be tolerated on the South Coast.

"We will ensure we act upon this and will continue to disrupt their activities. I can assure the community, you will see these types of operations regularly until this group realises they can't operate in this area.

"The message is simple – to those individuals who think belonging to an outlaw motorcycle gang will make them feel connected, they can be assured the rest of the community of the South Coast won't tolerate it.

"People are talking to us – we know who you are and we will continue to work on you every day forward."

Det Insp Nelson urged any members of the community who may have information to come forward and contact South Coast Police detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000.

Any information will be treated in strict confidence.
