Finks bikie Troy Mercanti has become a grandfather for the first time after his daughter gave birth last month.
Mercanti’s son-in-law Lawrence Freauf announced the birth of his child Gianna Valentina Freauf with the bikie’s daughter Tori on social media in June.
Mr Freauf posted a photo himself on Instagram on Tuesday standing next to Mercanti as the first-time grandfather cradled the newborn girl, according to The West Australian.
‘My beautiful granddaughter Gianna,’ Mercanti commented on another of Mr Freauf’s many posts of his daughter.
‘[Apple] don’t fall far from the tree.’
Mercanti’s daughter was heavily pregnant when she appeared in court in April for driving while her licence was suspended, when she was fined $200.
Mercanti was released from prison in January 2019 for savagely beating his girlfriend.
He was already behind bars for breaching his home detention conditions when he was sentenced for the savage attacks in March 2013.
Mercanti had punched, kicked, and king-hit the woman – leaving her with a fractured cheekbone and broken ribs.
In 2008 he was hospitalised after being bashed by over a dozen members of his own club and in 2010 he was involved in a shootout when he was turfed out of the Coffin Cheaters and joined the Finks.
Mercanti is currently facing charges of breaching his post-sentence supervision order.
He allegedly flew to New South Wales to attend a funeral of a Mongols club member before returning to Western Australia to self-isolate.
His supervision order prohibits him from gathering with other bikies.
Western Australian Police are attempting to determine whether this order applies outside the state, according to Perth Now.
