Interpol-sought Hells Angel member detained in western Turkey

Turkish police detained on Saturday a high-ranking member of the Hells Angels gang, who was being sought by Interpol, in the country’s western province of İzmir, Artı Gerçek news site reported.

Necati Arabacı, believed to be a leader of a faction of the motorcycle gang, was taken into police custody in the coastal town of Çeşme over a 2019 murder, it said.

Five members of the gang were arrested in connection to the murder of Ahmet Atik in the western town of Bodrum in Aug. 2019. Arabacı is accused of instigating the attack, Artı Gerçek reported.

German-born Arabacı, once an active member of the gang in Cologne, was arrested in 2002 on charges including human trafficking, assault, extortion, weapon violation and racketeering for which he was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2004.

The 48-year-old was released and deported to Turkey in 2007.
