This jacket is 2 separate items. The outer waterproof shell and a thick cotton hoodie insert.

The outer shell is well made and comfortable. Moves well, even for a big man my size.

The hoodie is thick and warm.

Putting the jacket on with the hoodie insert is a bit difficult and taking it off is not very easy. The hoodie does not “attach” to the jacket so it wants to stay on you as you pull the jacket off. I found putting the hoodie on, then pulling the jacket on over it is the best way to wear it.

There are ample pockets and vents for airflow.

The zippers are substantial and they work well, and easily, even with gloves on.

Viking Cycles product description:

“The Unshackled Jacket is an all-purpose motorcycle jacket aimed at providing you total freedom when you ride. The hooded jacket has a 600D water resistant frame and comes equipped with CE-Approved shoulder, elbow, and spinal protection armor. For storage, we have included numerous external and internal pockets (including a large internal conceal carry pocket, a dedicated phone pocket, and hands-free wire loop system). The jacket also boasts the signature Viking airflow system with zippered vents for controlled air-flow. For insulation, we have included a cotton/poly hooded Sleeveless liner to keep you warm on cold days. We have lined the collar and sleeves of the jacket with micro-fiber to ensure total comfortability, even on the longest of rides. To ensure a comfortable fit, we have made the waist adjustable and have added expansion gussets to shoulders for improved ergonomics.”
