WA bikie admits bashing slain Rebels boss Nick Martin

A Perth bikie has been fined after admitting he bashed now slain Rebels boss Nick Martin.

Hells Angels sergeant-at-arms Dayne Brajkovich, 41, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with fighting in public causing fear over the attack at The Sandbar in Scarborough on November 24.

The incident happened just weeks before Martin was assassinated by a suspected sniper in front of horrified children during an event at Perth Motorplex in Kwinana last Saturday night.

Police have not yet arrested anyone over Martin’s death and NCA NewsWire is not suggesting Brajkovich had any involvement.

Brajkovich’s lawyer Patrick Gardner said his client had wanted to avoid fighting in public that day in Scarborough.

“My client felt threatened,” Mr Gardner said.

“It was fight or flight and he unfortunately chose to fight.”

Mr Gardner said nobody was seriously injured.

CCTV footage showed the two bikies shook hands and had a short verbal exchange at The Sandbar before Brajkovich repeatedly punched Martin.

Brajkovich, who is a former Muay Thai fighter and has full face tattoos, pleaded guilty and was fined $800 plus court costs of $130.50.

There was a strong police presence at court following fears of retaliation between rival gangs.

Police have also been on high alert since Martin’s death, with concerns of a bikie war breaking out.

Officers have been conducting raids every day this week.

Martin’s widow Amanda was also listed to appear in court on Thursday for a committal mention on a separate extortion charge.

She was not required to appear in court and the matter was adjourned until January 29.

Martin was also facing charges but they are expected to be discontinued next year.

A reward of up to $1 million is being offered for information that leads to the conviction of the person responsible for Martin’s murder.
