The 45-year-old Haarlemmer who was seriously injured in a shooting in the Beeksteeg in Haarlem on Sunday evening, died of his injuries in hospital on Tuesday.

This is confirmed by the police after reports from various sources to this newspaper. The man leaves behind two children.

The police are still busy with the investigation into the shooting. The quarrel that led to the shooting is said to be in the relational sphere. The police do not want to say anything about the circumstances in which the incident took place ‘in the interest of the investigation’.

The police do confirm that one of the rumors investigated by the police is that the shooter is a member of the Hardliners, the successor to the infamous Haarlem chapter of the Hells Angels.

The Hardliners is a highly controversial motorcycle club whose members have frequently been guilty of crimes. According to the police, eighty members are in the picture for 2000 crimes. The club was founded from prison by ex-Hells Angel Lysander de R. and now has about 15 departments and several hundred members.

Last month, the police arrested fourteen members of MC Hardliners motorcycle club near Haarlem Spaarnwoude train station. The members refused to hand in their jackets with motorcycle club indications, because wearing them is prohibited in the municipality of Haarlem. The clothes were still confiscated on the desk. All members then received a ticket.

Sunday

On Sunday evening, just before half past nine, the police received a report from witnesses from the Beeksteeg in Haarlem that a woman would be beaten and that a white Caddy van had been driven away. A bang would also have been heard.

When the police came to take a look, the 45-year-old Haarlemmer was found seriously injured in a garden adjacent to the Beeksteeg. The man was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on Tuesday.

The white van was later found by the police in Zandvoort. There was no one in it then. The van has been impounded for further investigation. No further announcements are made about this either.

Bureau is translated as either a desk, OR an office. In this case, it meant police office/station.
