The vehicle driven by the daughter of a Hells Angel, accused of killing her best friend while driving dangerously and drunk, is the one that strayed from its lane to cause the fatal collision, a re-enactor has claimed.

“This is not an issue where speed was a factor that contributed to the collision. […] For me, the problem is that someone was not in his way, “maintained Martin Lessard, reconstitutionist at the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), alluding to Karell Tanguay.PHOTO FROM FACEBOOKKarell Tanguay. Accused

The 25-year-old’s trial resumed this week at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse. She faces charges of dangerous driving, impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol, all causing death and injury.

On July 15, 2018, after a day of partying on a boat with friends, Karell Tanguay allegedly took the wheel and caused a violent face-to-face on route 132, in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka in Montérégie.

The two occupants of the other vehicle, a Jeep Liberty, sustained serious injuries, while the driver’s best friend, Olivia Drozdoski Richardson, was killed. The accused was also seriously injured.

No signs of braking

The reconstructionist who did the analysis the night of the accident said he did not find any traces indicating that the Nissan Juke driven by the young woman had tried to brake.

At the very last second she would have attempted to make a “sharp turn maneuver” to get back into her lane, but it was too late. Only the driver of the Jeep Liberty put “the brakes” at the bottom, ”added Martin Lessard.

In cross-examination, the defense lawyer Michel Vleminckx questioned him at length to understand how he conducted the examination of the scene and was able to draw his conclusions, reproaching him for not having carried out certain analyzes, in particular concerning the visibility during the accident.

The accused is the daughter of Yvon Tanguay, a Hells Angels veteran member of the Montreal chapter.
