Police search rural property in relation to Gold Coast bikie murder

Last updated on June 24, 2021

Police have spent the night scouring a rural property in the Somerset region, as investigations into the execution-style murder of Gold Coast bikie Shane Bowden ramp up.

The search comes just a day after Queensland Police released CCTV of two getaway cars they believe were used in the killing.

Mr Bowden was gunned down while driving into the garage of his girlfriend’s Pimpama home in the early hours of October 12, 2020.

The 48-year-old Finks bikie was returning home from the gym when his attackers pounced, firing up to 21 gunshots through his vehicle around 12.20am.

Police last week announced a $250,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction, revealing they were certain the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang were involved.

Yesterday, officers established a crime scene at the Fernvale scrapyard, about 20 minutes north of Ipswich, where they spent the night combing through the area in search of answers to the brutal slaying.

It’s not yet known if anything of interest has been found.
