An alleged member of a Red Deer outlaw motorcycle club has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in jail for his part in what police described as an extensive drug trafficking network.
Casey Donald Chapin, 35, was sentenced in Red Deer provincial court last week after being convicted on counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm. He was also given a 10-year firearms ban.
Co-accused Joel Befus, 34, was sentenced in January to four-and-a-half years in jail for his involvement, along with a 10-year firearms ban, while a third co-accused, Bailey Michelle Chapin, 31, saw her counts withdrawn on June 30.
The trio was arrested on April 30, 2019, following a two-year investigation called Project Rocker by ALERT (Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team) – Red Deer’s organized crime team. The investigation looked into the activities of the Syndicate outlaw motorcycle club – a support club of the Hell’s Angels.
